Health Slam 2016 Tracks

TRACK 1: Digital Transformation For Healthcare Payers and Providers

Data from IoT devices, including hospital room sensors, lab equipment, employee wearables and patient monitoring devices will enable the industry to accelerate the transformation to digital.  This transformation will cut healthcare costs and improve patient experiences and outcomes. Providers will increasingly look to analytics to provide predictive and prescriptive capabilities, dramatically improving the ability of healthcare providers to help patients. Payers will leverage that data to control costs and optimize patient healthcare outcomes..

TRACK 2: Extracting Insights From Patient Data

Healthcare-related data is growing exponentially. The IoT will result in an increased flow of data for patient records, population health data and other databases, bringing a new complexity to provider and physician operations. Too much data can overload those providing care and distract them from their mission of treating patients. Providers will seek help from professional IoT services firms to help them develop processes and IoT platforms that can extract insights from many data sources.

TRACK 3: HIPAA Regulation & Security:

Governments will lay out guidelines for how medical apps will be regulated. The healthcare industry, vendors and governments need to figure out how to ensure all this private and personal data is secured appropriately. This is a significant challenge and one that will require collaboration from all involved parties.

  • What are the effective techniques for providing a data and system protection
  • What are the critical vulnerabilities and how do we deal with them
  • What are the compliance strategies

TRACK 4: Securely Sharing Patient Data

While security and privacy of patient healthcare records are critical, the fact is patients see multiple providers. Information must be shared across multiple providers in order to result in proper diagnosis, treatment and ongoing effective decision making. Sharing of information electronically can also serve to improve cost efficiencies throughout the healthcare system.

TRACK 5: New Business Models for Hospitals and Care providers

Hospitals and care providers are developing long-term strategies to leverage sensors and wearables throughout their operations in order to build a real-time sense-and-respond intelligent operation that cuts costs and improves patient experiences and outcomes. This Track will focus on the business models relevant to enabling information sharing and usage in Healthcare ecosystems.

TRACK 6: Research and Innovation

This track will focus on encouraging research and innovation for IoT. We will identify key segments of growth, innovation, problem areas and what impact this will have on future generation of IoT in the Healthcare Landscape.

  • What are our areas of interests for research and innovation for this vertical?
  • What big problems need innovative solutions?

TRACK 7. Best Practices: Lessons Learned from applying IoT strategies into Healthcare

We will focus on sharing and learning from the experiences in developing, deploying and managing IoT-enabled systems and applications to understand the challenges and best practices within the Healthcare Industry

(1) Questions about the benefits (and harms) of IoT data, from both a clinical outcomes perspective and a cost-effectiveness perspective,

(2) Questions of who pays for such services in healthcare, and how physicians are compensated to look at IoT data.

Abstract Requirements and Timeframes

All full paper submissions will be peer reviewed and evaluated based on originality, technical and/or research content/depth, correctness, relevance to conference, contributions, and readability. Proposals may include panels, seminars, case studies, workshops, posters and presentations. Abstract should be submitted in English and should consist of approximately 400 words. Please ensure you describe the presentation target audience, and ensure you define the format and outcomes.

Submissions criteria

  • Originality of the content
  • Priority of topics being proposed
  • Learning objectives and outcomes for the audience
  • Objectivity – Theory vs Reality
  • Organization of information
  • Relevance to the conference tracks and clarity of session
  • Reputation of the speaker – position, accomplishments / prior speakerships
  • C-Level speakers are given added preference
  • Replays, or sessions that have been presented before at other industry events / conferences are unlikely to be accepted, as material for our event is intended to be “exclusive”

Review Process

Organizers reserve the right to solicit presentations in addition to those submitted to ensure a balanced and appropriate conference program. You will be notified if your abstract is accepted for presentation. All accepted presentation abstracts will be posted to the conference agenda page. By submitting an abstract you confirm that all conference presentations may be digitally recorded and subsequently uploaded to the conference Web page and/or otherwise distributed and shared with a larger audience through post event proliferation. Paper submission and review will be handled by our online system.
